About Bob

Alongside the Stone Wall at Fredericksburg

I was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1958, and raised on LaVergne Avenue in Northlake, Illinois.  I attended St. John Vianney grammar school in Northlake, Quigley Seminary North in Chicago, and graduated in 1976 from Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois.

My father, Bob and mother, Mary, are my greatest inspiration.  A trip to Gettysburg with ma and pa back in 1999 inspired me to appreciate the greatness of America, our traditions and heritage.

I have two sisters, Jeanmarie and Dina, and a brother, Raymond, better known to the world as Rusty.

I moved to Lake County, Florida in 1985.  I am an air conditioning contractor and spent 16 years as an air conditioning-refrigeration engineer at Walt Disney World.  I am a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt. Dora, Florida.

My interests include baseball.  I am an avid, die-hard Chicago Cubs' fan, as well as the formal general manager and assistant coach of the Mt. Dora Mudcats amateur baseball team.

My first love is dinosaurs, an interest that started back as a young boy in the early 1960's.  I view the discovery of "Sue", the T-Rex, as one of the greatest discoveries in history.

I am actively involved in the historical community, and belong to several societies and community organizations, of which include the North Lake County Civil War Roundtable, Vice President of the Lake County Historical Society, President of the Historical Society of Tavares, Rotary of Tavares, Leesburg Mason Lodge No. 58, the 17th Connecticut Reenactors, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, where I was the first recipient of the "Distinguished Legionnaires Award" in 2005.

I am involved in many historical preservation and restoration projects which include the saving of the Capt. Haynes Woodlea house and the spelling correction of Haynes Creek.

I married Alma N. Nevarez in January 2005.

We, along with her son Daryl, our dog Baby, and my turtle, Flash, who has been with me since April of 1985, currently reside in Tavares, Florida.
