Civil War Roundtable

If the American Civil War and the people, places and events of that time intrigue you, come be a part of the North Lake County Florida Civil War Roundtable.

You don't have to be an historian, scholar, or a professor to come and enjoy the conversations and lectures.

The North Lake County Florida CWRT has been meeting locally for years. Our group of ladies and gentlemen come from all over Lake County as well as the Central Florida area.

There is a wide array of topics.  Some months we go around the table and each member talks about something he or she saw or read about.  You can volunteer to give a speech or demonstration at one of the meetings on any subject of the Civil War.  Also we have guest speakers, including authors, historians, and descendants of Civil War soldiers.

We have a monthly newsletter titled Impressions Of A Nation Divided.  The newsletter includes special features such as "Somewhere In Time", "Southern Exposure", "On Great Fields", "Connecticut War Record", and more.  There are guest writers such as authors, museum curators, students, and other roundtable members who contribute articles.  You may write a piece about a person you admire, or a vacation you were on, or pictures you would like to share.

The North Lake County Florida Civil War Roundtable is a great forum for keeping alive our wonderful country's history.  So come and be a part of the group.  All are welcome.

Meetings are currently held at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E. Caroline St., Tavares, Florida.

The Tavares Civic Center is located in the Ridge Park Complex which includes the Tavares Public Library and the Tavares Historical Museum.   Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month October through May.  We are off during the summer.

Meeting time starts at 7:30pm  -  Donation $1.00.
